Hurricane

If the prediction is true then it will become the most violent hurricane season ever recorded. Of course you don’t have to live in fear before the hurricane comes. But with proper preparation you can sleep better.

How can you prepare yourself?

Your preparation

  • If you are not insured, remember that this needs to be done on time. Insurers handle at threat a ‘natural disasters’ stop
  • Check your policy if you are also insured for natural disasters
  • Check your policy on own risk
  • Check if your premium is paid on time
  • Avoid underinsurance*

*Avoid underinsurance
If you close a house and/or contents insurance it is very important to determine the value to insure the building and contents.

Example
Your contents are insured for 40,000 guilders, but the actual value is 80,000 guilders.
So you are only half insured! Suppose the damage of the natural disaster is 5,000 guilders; from your insurance you will only receive 50% of the 5,000 guilders. That means you can only receive 2,500 guilders reimbursed.

ENNIA Home Contents Meter
With this you get a simple indication of the value of your possessions. You can also organize and describe your possessions. This way you can approach the value of your possesions for the insurance. Do the contents meter or download the PDF document for a more comprehensive contents meter.
